  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Format

The format for articles published in JIS Journal follows the recommendations of the American Psychological Association (APA) Publication Manual (6th ed.) The APA Publication Manual is available online at https://apastyle.apa.org/ and can be found in most institutional libraries.

Ensure that your manuscript files conform to our formatting requirements:

  • A separate cover letter contains email contact details of the corresponding author and any coauthors.
  • The main file (Word document format) contains no identifying author information.
  • Length limits: The title is at most 12 words, the abstract is at most 150 words, and the full text is at most 8,000 words.
  • Appropriate measures of effect size (partial eta squared, Cohen’s d, r2 coefficient of determination, confidence intervals) are included, in addition to p values.
  • Spellings are in their US English forms, as found in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary.
  • The level of English expression is high. Nonnative English speakers have had their manuscript edited (preferably by a professional editing service) prior to submission.
  • The literature is current, with the majority of works having been published no more than 5 years ago.
  • All citations have a matching entry in the references list, and vice versa.
  • DOIs are provided for all journal article entries in the references list

Costs

All articles published in JIS are published in full open access. In order to provide free access to readers, and to cover the costs of peer review, copyediting, typesetting, long-term archiving, and journal management, an article processing charge (APC) of 150 US Dollars (USD) applies to papers accepted after peer review.

Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors can use our English Translating & Editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
